England's new law on late-term abortions

Up until a couple of days ago (June 17, 2025), the English took, on paper at least, the position that any abortions after 24 weeks were criminal acts. The UK even prosecuted a handful of these post-24 abortions. This law was repealed in a vote on June 17th: 379 in favor of decriminalizing post-24 abortions; 137 for keeping the law in place. A near 3-to-1 vote. The majority rejoiced that a woman’s right to abortion was further liberated and defended, over against the evil patriarchal abortion laws of oppressive generations.

The result was never in doubt, of course. England is one of the key hubs of moral liberalism in the West. Just as predictable was the tepid response of the Anglican Church. It reflected on the “ ‘worrying change in law’ ”, adding that, “women ought not to be criminalized” for late-term abortions. The door is opened, it is feared by Anglicans, for more and more late-term abortions. The Roman Catholic Church opinion was just as watery and insipid, choosing to highlight how women might be ‘manipulated’ by others to have later-term abortions.[1]

Anglicanism, ever the state-religion, is afraid to take a brave, unequivocal, unyielding stand for babies in the womb. Prosecutions are not out of line with the immorality of killing babies in the womb. And as all slippery slopes, there is nothing to stop England gleefully sliding all the way down into the cesspit of later and later abortions, until at last it is celebrated that babies of any number of weeks are fair game.

A few voices in the wilderness were appalled at what parliament did by decriminalizing post-24 abortions. Alithea Williams, speaking for the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, boldly proclaimed:

" “If this clause becomes law, a woman who aborts her baby at any point in pregnancy, even moments before birth, would not be committing a criminal offence."

"Now, even the very limited protection afforded by the law is being stripped away," she added.”[2]

Euthanasia is next up in England. What do you think will happen?
